The Wines of California & Oregon with Wine Savvy
As the autumn starts to set in, we’ll be getting to grips with the delicious wines of California and Oregon.
Californian growers have been focusing more on identifying the optimum sites for viticulture and continue to produce ripe, but nowadays more elegant, styles of wine.
The wines of Oregon will give us a chance to explore some smaller producers growing vines and making wine in a cooler, wetter climate, which will provide some interesting contrast.

We covered the wines of England a little in the Northern European tasting in April 2024 and now there is a lot of interest in spending a whole evening on the subject.
I will source as many different styles as possible from our wine-producing regions and give you as big a picture as possible of our burgeoning wine scene.

The Hidden Gems tastings give me the opportunity to show you something a bit different, selecting bottles you might not necessarily choose yourself.
The wines will be made from unusual indigenous grape varieties, come from less-known regions of the world or produced using different grape growing and winemaking techniques.
This tasting is ideal for those who are stuck in a bit if a wine rut or simply want to discover something new.

The Big South African Tasting with Wine Savvy
South Africa has so many new and exciting wines to offer that it will be a challenge to select the line-up for this tasting.
Whilst Stellenbosch remains the heart of the industry there are many other regions to learn about. These include the dynamic and fiercely independent Swartland, which produces wines from hotter climate varieties such as Syrah and Grenache, and cooler coastal areas such as Elgin and Walker Bay where Pinot Noir and Chardonnay thrive.
This tasting will offer an insight into the thriving Cape wine scene and plenty of variety- not to be missed!

Spanning the area between the Camargue and the Spanish border, the Languedoc and Roussillon are rich in history with diverse landscapes and an expansive Mediterranean coastline.
A wealth of wine styles are produced by the two regions: from crisp, mouthwatering whites to rich, bold reds, sparkling wines and fortified wines. Among them, Crémant de Limoux, Picpoul de Pinet, Corbières, Faugères, Minervois la Livinière and Muscat de Rivesaltes, to name but a few.
